Convenor of AAP Maharashtra, Anjali blew the lid off the 70000 crore perpetrated by the NCP led Irrigation Ministry. She then exposed the complicity Nitin Gadkari, RSS strongman and BJP party president with other parties and their business interests. 45 year old Patholgist, Anjali born and brought up in Mumbai, married and has two children. She is confident that the poster boys of corruption will see their downfall in Maharashtra. This Maharshtrian ‘mulgi ‘ has toured the state extensively in the past year, drawing huge crowds at rallies in every district and it is her efforts that AAP has become a household name in the state. Medha Patkar is a name that needs no introduction, a social activist who has led the struggle for the people affected by the controversial Sardar Sarovar Project on the Narmada River in Gujarat, India. She founded the Narmada Bachoao Andolan and National Alliance of People’s Movements and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Goldman Environmental Prize, Amnesty International’s Human Rights Defender’s Award and the BBC’s Green Ribbon Award.An advocate of Human Rights, Patkar founded her campaigns on two basic tenets in the Indian constitution: the rights to life and to livelihood.

With a distinguished career that ranges from investment banking and micro finance, Meera recently quit her assignment  as CEO and Chairperson with the Royal Bank of Scotland to join politics and work towards the best practices and policies that India should adopt to alleviate many of it’s problems and challenges. She has formerly worked with ABN Amro, Lazards and Grindlays and in each of her stints, she found herself engaging actively with community programmes. Her work with children and disadvantaged communities she says, has given her valuable insights into lapses in policy and she is hopeful her experience in banking and finance will find expression as a solution provider for the nation. Meera will take on Union Minister Milind Deora.

4. Balwinder Kaur– Kurukshetra, Haryana Against Naveen Jindal(INC)

She is a member of Bhartiya Kisan Union. She was lodged in jail for eight days for her struggle for farmers rights. She is also president of Pharunijattan Mahila Mandal.

5. Bhawna Bhavesh Vasnik– Amravati,Maharashtra against Anandrao Adsul(Shiv Sena)

Bhawna Wasnik  is a professor of home economics in Amravati  and soon this young mother of two will  be an inspiration to women in this country, as she takes on  the challenge of contesting against established names in the Shiv Sena bastion. Bhavna has worked towards creating awareness about AIDS and conducted programmes for special children. The cause of the nomadic and much maligned Pardhi tribes is close to her heart and she has been working  with social workers in the area to design programmes, that will help them generate income and sustained livelihood.

6. Sameena Abdulmajid Khan -Sangli,Maharashtra against Pratik Patil(INC)

Raising pertinent questions about the abysmal performance of public representatives is a young lady in black robes, Sameena Khan. A lawyer who represents labour unions and others in the labour and industrial courts of Sangli, Sameena is exposed to many of the crucial issues in the area and articulates them vociferously. Born and brought up in Miraj, Sameera believes the youth of this nation must don the mantle of representation and work towards inclusive growth and development , to oppose  the indifference and arrogance of established political scions.

7. Aneeta Hindoliya-Ujjain,Against Guddu Premchand(INC)

Anita is a dynamic lady in Ujjain. She has a sound family background. She also runs a pertol pump. She has been fighting for poors and women related issues.

Sarah Joseph (born 1946) is a novelist and short story writer in Malyalam. She won the Kendriya Sahatiya Academy Award for her novel Aalahayude Penmakkal  She also received the Vayalar Awardfor the same novel. Sarah has been at the forefront of the feminist movement in Kerala and is the founder of Manushi – organisation of thinking women.She along with Madhavikutty (Kamala Surayya) is considered leading women storytellers in Malayalam.She would be contesting the Lok Sabha Elections, 2014 from Thrissur.

11. Maya Vishwakarma– Hoshangabad against Uday Pratap Singh(INC)

Maya is a farmer’s daughter who did her schooling from her village in Narsinghpur and yet she could move out to do her Masters in Biochemistry. She earned Junior Research fellowship from All India Institute of Medical Science. She presented a paper in America and then worked as Senior Research associate in the University of California and then started working voluntarily with Stanford hospital. She got her imaginations fired by Anna Andolan which she supported from the US. She has now moved back to her village in Narsinghpur and is working full-time with the Aam Aadmi Party.

12. Mamata Kundu– Balasur,Orrisa Against Shri Kanta kumar Jena(INC)

Mamata Kundu a graduate from Utkal University, Vani Vihar is a Homemaker and a social activist. She is very concerned about the corrupt system around and has a dream of realizing a corruption-free India. With her experience of social work as a member of Air Force wives’ Welfare Association” she joined the Jana Lokpal Movement and later on got fully involved in the Aam Aadmi Party as an active member. She has been instrumental in organization building activities of the party in Balasore district of Odisha.

13. Nina P. Nayak -Bangalore South Against Ananth Kumar(BJP) Winning since 1996.


Nina Nayak ( 24 November 1953) is a Child rights activist from Dakshina Kannada. She is fighting for rights of children over the years. She has also authored several articles and a book. She is Vice-President of the Indian Council for Child Welfare and member of the sub-committee on children in the National Planning Commission of India.

Participated in anna movment and has participated in various party activities. Good reputation in society.

22. Geeta Arya-Sasaram,Bihar Against Meira Kumar(INC)
About 60 years old. Began his career as a geography school teacher, 1980-84 worked in education section of Patna secretariat, 1984-2013 worked in police, known as an honest police officer who helped common people, inspired by Anna movement and AAP, now an active member of the party.

23. Smt. Anita Pratap-Ernakulam Against KV Thomas (INC)

A very famous journalist who was the India bureau chief for CNN. She won the George Polk award for TV reporting. In 2013 she was presented with the Shriratna Global award by the Kerala Kala Kendram, an organization associated to Kerala Sangeetha Natak Academy. She worked with Indian Express, India Today and Time magazine. She is very highly admired in the media fraternity in Kerala and her candidature will bring a lot of media support. A wide media coverage on AAP is very much possible, which will help all the candidates of AAP across Kerala.

24. Savita Shinde-Madha- against Sharad Pawar
Savita Shinde joined us from Samajwadi Party but she is from the socialist group Rashtriya Seva Dal. Was Vice President of International Union of Social Youth, worlds largest political youth organisation. Has travelled extensively across thoe world through. She had formed Shetkari Sagharsh Samiti to work on Farmer’s issues and runs a cooperative for women. She has worked on many social issues

25. Hemlata Dhad-Dhar-Against Gajendra Singh (INC)
Hemlata is a doctor by profession, who has recently retired as professor from Govt. Medical College, Indore. She was also executive committee Member of Bhopal University and Joint Secratary of OBGY, Indore branch. She has been fighting for Ladies on ground and has filed many PILs as well.

27. Salma Kulkarni -Parbhani-Against Ganeshrao Dudhgaonkar(Shiv Sena)

Her parents were renowned social activists, and she began her public life with NCS Pune. Her focus has been on womens issues, member of Mahila Swaraj Abhiayn in Gujarat. Presently she works on atrocities on dalit women and manual scavengers.

28. Captain Vikram Batra’s,PVC(Posthumous) mother Kamal Kant Batra will contest from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur constituency, which is now held by BJP’s youth wing president Anurag Thakur.


  1. Thank you for this wonderful list. But the lady who was a JD(U) minister in Bihar, Begum Amanullah Khan is absent here. Is she not given a ticket ? And the retd. IPS officer, Savita Chowdhury Bhattacharjee ? Kindly clarify !
