As the Dokalam standoff has been called off, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat said that China is attempting to “change the status quo” on its border to India. As we all know how China has expanded its border since 1949 to now, 2017. The army chief has predicted that incidents like the current intrusion of China in Dokalam are likely to increase in the future as the media reported.
The army chief said that even when China and India have arrived at a decision of disengagement of troops regarding the Dokalam standoff. the attempts by China will not end. He said, “our troops on the border should not feel it cannot happen again”.
“My message to the troops is to not let down their guard,” Times of India quoted the army chief as saying.
The line of Actual Control has not yet been settled between the two countries and hence each country has a different perception about it. The clashes on the border are normal and it happens when any one side patrols near other side. General Rawat further said that our aim is to get back to normalcy and not to escalate any thing.
The soldiers are on the borders round the corner and keeping us safe from anything worse that could happen.
