IAF Chief air marshal B S Dhanoa said IAF is always prepared for challenges and better equipped than Chinese air force. IAF is ready to tackle anything at the eastern front.
He addressed the media at Halwara air force station and said that Indian air force is ready to face any security challenge which confronts the country.
Last year, Air Marshal had said that Indian air force is ready to fight at a short notice. He was also asked about defence budget which was not enough for the needs of the Army. He replied that he has told his concerns to the government.
The IAF is already drastically down to very less squadrons. The required squadrons are 42 and currently operating is 31. He said they have a plan to build up the operational squadrons.
He also said speaking to Indian Express that he has no objection to the dual use of air bases for military as well as civilian purposes. “It is already being used at Jammu, Pathankot, Bathinda etc, and we have no issues if the same can be done in Halwara as well. We will work closely with each other for dual use operations. The local police will take care of security measures of commercial flights while IAF will manage their own affairs,” he said.
