Mir Idrees Sultan who is alleged to join terror group

An Indian army soldier, resident of Kashmir has been since last Saturday. Speculations are high that he has joined terror group Hizubil Mujahideen after a picture of him has been released in terror outfit of holding an AK-47.

Mir Idrees Sultan is a sepoy with Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. He had arrived in his home village in South Kashmir’s Shopian on 12th April, and has been missing since April 14. His father, Muhammed Sultan Mir, contacted local police to file the missing report on Monday morning.

According to Public Trust of India, Police official confirmed that he has join the terror group with two local youths although Cops had not made this part of the formal paperwork. Army has also been informed about the case registered.

Mir Idrees Sultan had been posted in Bihar’s Katihar and about to get posting in Jharkhand. It is reported that he was not happy with the move.

The picture that had been released by Hizbul Mujahideen shows Mir with an AK-47, and contain details written across the image in green text. The text identifies him and say he is a BSc 2nd year. Security agencies said that educational qualification of anyone who has received even a day past a school education is a recruiting tool. It also said that Mir is an army soldier his pic is likely to keep turning up in recruitment and Propaganda materials of terror outfit.

Police said that they are investigating his phone records and other details to know that if he was in touch with anyone with terror links. The Army maintains him “missing” and has no confirmation that he has joined any terror group. According to Indian army this 23 year old army man was on leave since since April 7.
