Captain Salam Singh Ratore(Retd.) was sentenced to seven years of rigorous punishment by CBI special court for his involvement in 2005 Navy war room leak case. Capt. Salam Singh was in possession of several secret documents which should not be with him and was charged on spying.

The Navy war room leak case was separately investigated by Air Force intelligence about an air defence directorate officer who was alleged to have an extra marital affair. The officer was put under surveillance and many matters of carelessness was found in matters of national security.

Air force intelligence informed Naval intelligence of the matter when they recovered a pen drive that had documents related to India’s naval preparedness and plans for the upcoming twenty years. The leak was traced to the Maritime operations centre of the directorate of the Naval operations in South Block, New Delhi.

Even though as sometimes we hear news about honeytrapping incidents by ISI, as we know about Group Captain Arun Marwah, such cases keep coming again and again.

The Central bureau of investigation mentioned a number of documents that had been leaked from directorate of the naval operations. It also included indian navy’s maritime operations, air defence vulnerabilities of the country and some data on Sir Creek.
