Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen considers ‘Tejas’, India’s indigenously built multi-role light combat aircraft ‘an excellent and very impressive’ aircraft Indian has. The Defence Minister made such statement of “It is an excellent aircraft and it is very impressive” after his journey of half-an-hour in Tejas at Kalaikunda airbase.
The Singapore’s Defence Minister also praises the pilot of the aircraft Air Vice Marshal A P Singh. He said the pilot flew the aircraft like a riding car and like a fighter aircraft.
On the question, is Singapore interested in buying Tejas? To this, the minister replied, he is not the concerned person i.e., pilot and it is for the technical people to take a call on it.
But, as per the sources, Singapore has shown some interest in buying Tejas aircraft. For the first time, Tejas was showcased in Bahrain air show and many Middle East countries have shown their interest in buying Tejas.
Air Vice Marshal Singh took Singapore Defence Minister from Banglore to see two Tejas. Singh is the project director of the National Flight Test Centre-Aeronautical Development Agency.
Aeronautical Development Agency in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited designed Tejas aircraft. The Defence Minister of Singapore will meet Defence Minister of India
Ng Eng stated, “Bilateral defence ties between our two countries are strong and it is getting stronger.” In collaboration with Kalaikunda airbase, Singapore Air Force will hold a military training. Talking about the joint venture of military training, Eng said, “I hope this will continue for long.”
Back in the year 2004, the first joint military training was held between Republic of Singapore Air Force and Indian Air Force. In 2007, Kalaikunda held the joint military training.
