This heart-touching picture the Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh explains how the life is lived in the Indian Air Force.
The incident- When the great scientist and a president of common man, A.P.J Abdul Kalam unfortunately died, it was a heart break for all of us. On 28th July 2015, his body was flown from Shillong to Delhi and their we had all dignitaries to pay respects to the former supreme commander of the armed forces.
Everyone remembers thoughtfully of how poignant that moment was, Marshal of IAF, Arjan Singh who was elder to Kalam by 13 years, paid a very dignified tribute to the president he respected from his heart.
He was wheelchair bound and it was a big struggle for him to stand up, but he stood up straight and distanced himself from his aides and guards. He gave up his walking stick and walked firm steps to pay his respect to the Kalam.
He salute with his pure determination and sharpness of a young soldier moved everyone to the core. Some of the eyes were even moist on observing how a five star ranked officer, a 96-year-old paid his final tribute to the former supreme commander.
That was an incident which still remains etched in memories of many. Marshal of IAF, Arjan Singh will be missed by all of us as a brave soldier who guarded us when needed and did all he could.
I still remember when I saw a picture of APJ Abdul Kalam with Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, after few days, F.M. Manekshaw left for his heavenly abode, as they say, the soldier never dies.
A lot of politicians did not go to attend the last journey of Field Marshal Manekshaw, right from Pratibha Patil, also the supreme commander of the armed forces, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to defence minister A K Antony, none attended the last rites of a such a legend. I hope the same does not happen with Marshal of Air Force, Arjan Singh.
